JLE was awarded the contract to install electrical and instrumentation systems for the Pacific Energy Aviation Limited tank farm at Erima, Port Moresby. This involved intensive planning from engineering designs for mobilization of materials, plant, and equipment required ex NZ and Australia & dispatch to the remote area. NZ personnel joined PNG nationals competent to AS/NZ4761 in work entailing full demolition of previous installations. An existing dormant 630amp Main switchboard was intricately tested to ensure compliance and safety before utilizing for site service to petrochemical standards AS/NZ60079 & AS/NZS3000. The switchboard featured an auto change over system for the on-site standby generator that JLE also integrated with the electrical installation. Other tasks involved the site-wide installation of new power and instrument control cables, fabrication and installation of cable support systems, integrating new field instruments and equipment to automation systems including new I/O terminations, earthing, lighting and power installations; and commissioning to bring the plant to operational status. JLE overcome the difficulties of working in PNG as with other remote areas, through competent handling of logistics, selection, and supply of personnel, correct material & equipment to maintain productivity and delivery timelines.
