Lihir Island Seepage Barrier Trials

This pioneering project was a world’s first due to the volcanic nature of the island and the heat from the volcanic rock. The final goal if successful after the trials are completed, will be a seawall barrier; planned to be some 2kms long. JLE carried out the Electrical design, installation and maintenance of the Bentonite Plant, Laboratory, instrumentation, workshop, Concrete Batching, and other support facilities for the project. The equipment originating from many international locations had challenges to install, commission and comply to Australian and PNG Standard. JLE competed this project with zero LTI’s.
