Poihipi Power Station
JLE was contracted by Contact Energy to replace a number of key control and electrical systems at its Poihipi Power Station in Taupo. The work involved the replacement of the existing PLCs and SCADA with an ABB 800xA distributed control system to help bring Poihipi “in line” with other Contact Energy assets whilst providing sufficient capacity for future upgrades.
JLE, as the principle contractor, managed all civil, fire systems, mechanical, high voltage, electrical installation, instrumentation and commissioning work on this project. This project was completed during the major station outage in early 2015 which required meticulous planning and attention to detail from JLE to meet this challenging deadline.
