JLE was contracted by Puma Energy to fabricate, install and test new chrome molly piping for one of the heaters Including the transfer line at their Refinery in Port Moresby, PNG. The work was part of the Refinery’s major plant shutdown and as such required meticulous planning to ensure it was installed and tested within the shutdown time constraints.
JLE fabricated a specifically designed steel gantry in New Zealand and sent it to PNG to assist in the efficient removal and installation of the Heater tubing.
Whilst the project supervision and post weld heat treatment technician were mobilised from New Zealand and key ASME welders from the Philippines, the majority of the crew were PNG nationals and the third party NDT company was also PNG based.
JLE completed the works without a safety incident.
