Dulux Group’s main paint manufacturing plant in Brisbane commissioned JLE to carry out the full scoping of design and installation for earthing validation within the zone 1 hazardous areas of the plant.
JLE successfully delivered the Contract works which included the supply, procurement, installation, pre-commission, testing and commissioning of electrical works to full operational condition.
The project scope required the installation of copper bars around the plant and the retrofitting of existing earthing clamps with the installation of 165 Newson Gale Bondrite Remote EP and Earthrite Plus earthing units.
These Newson Gale Units were installed at all decanting operations, mixer additions, weighing and filling stations, pot stirrers, high speed dispersers at the semi-automatic filling stations. The objective is to minimise and eliminate the presence of static electricity in a highly flammable environment thereby increasing safety within the work areas.
This project was carried out in areas with constant client operation and high volumes of foot traffic. Through careful planning, effective communication, weekly client reporting, weekly client meetings and implementation of a rolling 3 week look ahead construction programme, JLE completed this project without downtime to the plant’s paint production target of at least 1 Million litres a week and with a zero LTI and zero MTI achievement.
